    The conditions of the written deed is such that in case the sd James Wheeler Jr. shall make execute and deliver to Samuel Wheeler, Jr.a good quit claim deed of all the right, title and interest he has in and unto a certain piece of land lying in Derby, in the parish of Oxford, about a mile south of Lt. Samuel Wheelers dwelling house, within one year after he shall arrive at the age of 21 years, containing about 30 acres it being the farm that Robert Wheeler purchased of Samuel Hitchcock of Derby, and shall also make and execute a good quit claim deed to Elisha Wheeler of Derby all the right, title and interest he has in and unto two certain tracts of land lying in Southbury, one being a piece which Robert Wheeler purchased of Josiah Beers and Elisha Beers containing about nine and twenty acres of land, be it more or less, bounded south and east on highway, west on Benjamin Bradley, north on the land that is or was Jehiel Preston, and also a certain piece laying in Southbury, part in the parish of Middlebury, and part in the parish of Oxford, bounded east on the highway that runs between Waterbury and Southbury, south on highway, west on highway and the land of Stone, north on Stone, containing about an hundred and thirty acres be it more or less, then the written deed to be in full force, otherwise null and void."

    This stream enters the Naugatuck from the west, a short distance below the central part of Naugatuck village ... Nathaniel Gunn had a saw mill in 1739. Osborns mill was located on this stream. Samuel Wheeler had a saw mill in 1749, and later a carding mill. Arah Ward had a grist mill soon after. The stream from Towantic pond enters Long Meadow brook near this point. Towantic pond lies to the southwest Long Meadow pond to the northwest.
