    The Smith House, circa 1750, is located on Rock House Hill Road on a 1687 Indian purchase ...
    It is the only homestead remaining in the area, all others having been demolished to prevent contamination to the water supply when the Birmingham Water Company reservoir was flooded. It was reportedly saved through the tenacity of a Smith descendent, Otis Fracis, who refused to be bought out by the water company.
